Cumbernauld museum, house within Cumbernauld library, tells the story of the history of the Cumbernauld area, from Prehistoric times through to the development of the New Town in the 1960's. Displays include dioramas and artefacts depicting the Roman invasion and building of the Antonine Wall, Medieval Cumbernauld and the Comyn family (rivals of Robert the Bruce), Victorian life and the Second World War. A video narrated by Magnus Magnusson explains the ideas behind the development of the new town, bringing the museum displays right up to date. School workshops can be arranged for a variety of topics to fit in with the 5 - 14 Environmental Studies 'People In The Past' curriculum. For more information on these please contact the Lifelong Learning Officer, based at Lenziemill Archive. There is also a small space for temporary exhibitions.
